Melissa was here today, and she directed me to this essay. Wow!

In almost every paragraph, I wanted to comment.

One of my favourite words is petrichor, which is the amazing smell that arises when the first raindrops hit the dry ground at the beginning of rain after a heat wave.

I have so many stories about rain.

Veronica, since her departure, messages me with rain. I have documented three events in a video, which I now have to update as there is a fourth event. https://youtu.be/qlDs0emuhPM

Oh Chris. Your beautiful video gave me goosebumps and teared me up. I'm really honoured you shared that with me. How beautiful your devotion is. And I have to say . . . how beautiful your grief is. The fact that the rain enfolds itself around you, another link between the two of you . . . a language for when there is no words. What words do we have that could possibly replace the grief of thunder, the catharsis of rain and the many ways the mystery speaks to us through nature. Veronica looks like such a spark of a spirit. From my peek of a perspective . . . just getting to see how ritual is enfolded within your life, how Veronica is in the clouds, the rain and the apples. Such a rich world you live in Chris.

Melissa calls you Kim. Is that the name that you prefer to be addressed by or should I call you Inez?

Whatever, I am extending the video to include another event. As I closed the door on Sunday, the official end of the exhibition, once again we had a rainstorm.

My middle name is Inez and I write and make art with that name. I have a feeling your rain song doesn't have an ending Chris. The video will always be in a state of evolving as more stories come rumbling through.
